Understand the Eligible Own Funds

Overview

This calculator implements a simplified eligible-own-funds numerator view for the SCR and MCR coverage pages, keeping the tier balances visible and producing the two numerator totals while the dedicated Own Funds Eligibility page remains the control surface for caps, deductions, and availability tests.[1]

Use this page when the own-funds amounts by tier are already classified and you need the lightweight numerator values for the ratio pages.

Input Terms

  • Tier 1 Unrestricted: Unrestricted Tier 1 capital eligible for SCR and MCR coverage.
  • Tier 1 Restricted: Restricted Tier 1 capital eligible for coverage.
  • Tier 2: Tier 2 own funds eligible for coverage.
  • Tier 3: Tier 3 own funds eligible for coverage on the SCR view only.

Calculation

The route adds the visible tier balances into two separate coverage views.

  • Eligible Own Funds for the Solvency Capital Requirement: = `Tier 1 Unrestricted + Tier 1 Restricted + Tier 2 + Tier 3`.
  • Eligible Own Funds for the Minimum Capital Requirement: = `Tier 1 Unrestricted + Tier 1 Restricted + Tier 2`.
  • Tier 3: is excluded from the MCR numerator on this page, and no Article 82 cap testing is performed here.[1]

Important Notes

  • This is a lightweight numerator page, not a full eligibility checker. Restricted Tier 1 limits, Tier 2 and Tier 3 caps, and availability deductions belong on Own Funds Eligibility.
  • The difference between the SCR and MCR outputs on this route is entirely the treatment of Tier 3. If the two results move together, the change is coming from Tier 1 or Tier 2.
  • Use these outputs as inputs to SCR Ratio and MCR Ratio, then return to the control page when legal eligibility evidence is needed.
